Specialty Doctor, National Psychosis Service - South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust - 10PAs - Fixed Term/12 Months
This post is in our National Psychosis Unit, our innovative clinical service which provides evidence-based pharmacological, psychological & social interventions to adults who have failed to respond to standard treatments. We specialise in expert, evidence-based treatment for people with complex and co-morbid psychosis, enhancing quality of life through recovery & substantially reducing risk of readmission & long-term costs. We are founded upon effective partnership working & strive to deliver consistently high-quality care through high performing, dedicated & skillful team, which you could now join.
The unit is designed to take advantage of the close links between the Trust & IoPPN & all clinicians are expected to be research aware and/or active. The service incorporates sharing of evidence-based approaches with prompt dissemination of good & effective practice, nationally & internationally. The service sees patients from all over the country.
We are seeking a psychiatrist with an interest in complex psychosis, psychopharmacology and physical health to join us. Clinically, you will be responsible for supporting the medical care of our inpatients at Bethlem site and outpatients assessments.

The main duties are to work as part of our expert multi-disciplinary team to provide medical input to the complex patients served by the National Psychosis Service, as detailed in the Job Description.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This job description is an outline of the key tasks and responsibilities of the post and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to the pay band.

This job description will be subject to regular review and adjustment.
Annual leave is in line with NHS guidelines for this grade.
With agreement study leave can be offered to a maximum of 5 days per annum. This is in addition to sessions agreed with the service to maintain professional development.
This Personal Development Plan will form part of the annual appraisal process which all doctors are expected to have within the Trust.
This in turn will contribute to GMC Revalidation and Re-licensing.
All Doctors will adhere to Trust Policy and Procedure, GMC Good Medical Practice and related regulatory documents, and Good Psychiatric Practice published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
The salary range for this post is in accordance with the NHS salary scale plus London Weighting (whole time).
All employees must maintain consistently high professional standards and act in accordance with their relevant professional code of conduct, including cooperating in any performance review processes as may be necessary. Person Specification Essential
· MBBS or equivalent qualification with GMC Registration as a Medical Doctor
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
