Up to 3 positions are open for Postdoctoral Research Assistants/Associates as part of an ERC awarded project funded by UKIR at the University of Cambridge in the group Catalysis and Process Integration group led Dr Laura Torrente ().
We are looking for different profiles including:- Expertise on designing, building and commissioning flow rigs (including LabView knowledge)- Expertise in heterogeneous catalysis (including chemical looping), kinetic studies and characterization - Expertise on absorption (for ammonia separation)
Candidates should make clear their expertise against the different profiles above in their application cover letter.The successful candidates will have a strong technical background in the abovementioned areas, including a PhD in a relevant area for those at Research Associate level.
The aim of the project is the development of novel green ammonia processes, powered by renewable energy and able to cope with its intermittency nature. The research will involve the development of engineering principles for dynamic Power-to-X chemical process, considering reactor, separation and heat integration units. Research will be focused on green ammonia production with the potential of extending it to other chemical processes towards the electrification of the chemical industry.
The ability to work both as part of a team and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are required. The duties / responsibilities of this post include developing and driving research objectives, writing up work for presentation and publication, collaborating with academic and industrial partners, assisting in the supervision of student research projects, and delivering seminars and occasional talks as outlined on the Further Information document.
