Glamorgan Archives is the key body in the preservation of the written history of a large and populous region of South Wales. It provides a joint service to the City and County of Cardiff, the County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Caerphilly (for the former Rhymney Valley District Council area), Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The Office is located in purpose-built accommodation at Leckwith.

The postholder’s main role will be as a member of the public services team working under the supervision of professional staff. Duties include answering enquiries in person and remotely, advising searchers on basic sources and document production. Other duties will include assisting in the reprographic service using digital photography, packaging and data input work. Previous experience of working with the public is desirable but not essential as full training will be given in the systems and procedures used in the Office. The job will involve a degree of physical activity when retrieving and replacing records.
A full, valid driving licence is desirable as is the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
This role will be based onsite at the Glamorgan Archives building in Leckwith, Cardiff. Working hours will be per week and will include our public opening hours Tuesday-Thursday.

Working on-site at Glamorgan Archives you will help our team to look after years of written history. You will deliver a high-quality customer service, in-person and in writing by email, improving access to the collection. You will help to care for and preserve the collection, though digital imaging and repackaging of records, and through data entry and the creation of improved finding aids.
