The MoJ Property Directorate is a customer focused organisation that exists to enable our customers to perform to their very best.� We do this by providing high quality, easy to use services, and working environments that our customers want to work in, which support them to deliver their individual outputs efficiently.� Our job is to manage one of the most diverse and complex estates in Government � hosted by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).� As of 2 April 2021, the Prisons Maintenance Group (or PMG) joined MoJ Estates Directorate and the team receives a new title, MoJ Property Directorate.�� This change aligns us with our Profession � the Property Profession - and brings together a property portfolio including Prisons, Probation, and MoJ HQ and Arms Length Bodies.� We also provide property services on behalf of the Home Office.
�The Ministry of Justice is committed to leading the Government�s response to the climate emergency and becoming the first Government department to be net zero.� As a Net Zero Carbon Manager in the Climate Change and Sustainability Unit you will be spearheading the department�s response to climate change, influencing delivery of the net zero carbon agenda for one of the biggest Government departments, touching the lives of more than a hundred thousand will play a crucial role in transforming the Ministry of Justice into a net zero carbon organisation and delivering one of our key strategic objectives.� Your passion and enthusiasm for sustainability and carbon reduction will drive change throughout the department. Team Overview
You will be part of the Net Zero Carbon (NZC) team of professionals within the multidisciplinary Climate Change and Sustainability Unit responsible for the development and delivery of key MoJ sustainability programmes. The MoJ intends to be a sustainability leader within Whitehall, and as such, seeks high performing and highly motivated individuals to inspire and deliver meaningful environmental improvements. We work collaboratively across our areas of expertise to deliver positive environmental outcomes across a large range of themes including:
The NZC team has delivered a range of projects since its formation; from resource efficiency measures including water management, leakage detection, �LED lighting, boiler efficiency controls and Building Management Systems to supporting electrification with solar PV, ASHP, electric vehicle charging points. The MoJ new prisons strive for best sustainability standards and will be fully electric, aiming to reduce emissions by c90% compared to HMP Fosse Way.� The Climate Change and Sustainability Unit is also responsible for embedding environmental sustainability across MoJ, its agencies (including prisons, courts, and probation centres) and its Arm�s Length Bodies. This includes the department�s policy making, operations, finance, governance, estates, and commercial activity. Working in a large and diverse organisation presents the team with huge scope to deliver national scale sustainability leadership.

However, it is also applicable to those who are currently not qualified property practitioners but wish to make this their profession of choice. Flexible working hours
The Property Directorate offers flexible working subject to local agreement. Requests for reduced hours contracts will be considered in line with business needs.
The Climate Change and Sustainability Unit is based in 102 Petty France in London. The role will involve occasional travel to 102 Petty France, MOJ establishments and supply chain stakeholders throughout England and Wales as necessary.
