This Fixed Term position has arisen due to an increase in service demand for Gynaecological Malignancy within Devon. Exeter is a designated Cancer Centre for Gynaecological Cancer treatment and provides support to South and North Devon populations as well as serving the local population of Exeter and East Devon.
Exeter Cancer Centre provides care for the populations of Exeter, mid and East Devon and Specialist Care for the 2 Cancer Units in South Devon (Torbay) and North Devon (Barnstaple). Consultant Gynaecological Oncologists support the services in the Cancer units with regular outpatient clinics for new and follow-up patients and MDT leadership. It is envisaged that the holder of this post will provide support to the South Devon Cancer Unit in Torbay Hospital with a weekly clinic and MDT commitment.
The successful applicant should hold the MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification and relevant CCT or equivalent. They should be entered on the GMC Specialist Register (or be eligible for entry within 6 months of the date of the Appointments Advisory Committee). This position is likely to suit either an experienced consultant or an individual transitioning from a specialist training programme to a substantive consultant post.

The candidate will provide Consultant care in Gynaecological Oncology for the Cancer Centre as part of the Peninsula Cancer Alliance. This is a new post to join 4 subspecialist gynaecological oncologists already in the department. The team at the RD&E includes 4 subspecialist Gynaecological Oncologists, 1 Medical Oncologist, 2 Clinical Oncologists, 2 Cancer Specialist Nurses and 1 Cancer Support Nurse, as well as specialist pathologists and radiologists who make up the MDT. There is also support from the Womens Health counselling team, palliative care and enhanced supportive care.
Working Pattern: 10 PA's

Preference will be given to staff with Priority and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon.
