Working in the Health Improvement Team within the Public Health Directorate, the postholder will take forward a programme of Public Health/Health Improvement work to support NHS Highland to deliver on national and local targets and priorities. This post will carry a generic portfolio and delivery of training.
Working collaboratively across all parts of NHS Highland’s organisational structure and with partner agencies, this post will operate throughout Highland's geographic area therefore the post holder must be able to travel around the area.
The post will be based in Inverness.
You will have a firm understanding of the principles and practice of Public Health/Health Improvement along with 4 years’ health improvement/public health experience; the use of data for assessing need and communicating messages about health; and working with delivery partners and communities. Knowledge of the current context of this agenda, including key national policy drivers and national and local priorities for tackling inequality and promoting health would be advantageous. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be competent in delivering training. You will be knowledgeable of the effects that inequalities have on health and the causes of health inequalities.
You will have a degree or equivalent in education, health, social work, community development or another related or relevant discipline. Candidates should be willing to pursue registration through the Faculty of Public Health practitioner registration scheme.
