NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. St John’s Hospital is a modern teaching hospital that provides a comprehensive and expanding range of services, including a 24-hour Accident and Emergency. Surgery at St John’s Hospital provides specialist regional services for ENT, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, including Burns patients. Our 24 hour stay surgical unit undertakes a high volume of elective surgical procedures across 4 additional specialities: urology, colorectal, general surgery and orthopaedics. The Hospital also delivers perinatal services for West Lothian and elective and emergency gynaecology care. We have a general paediatric ward providing inpatient care alongside elective paediatric surgeries, GP assessment, medical day care and medical investigations. In addition we support neonatal services via our Special Care Baby Unit, which is closely aligned to neonatal services in Edinburgh.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Pharmacist to join our Women and Children and Surgical teams in this interesting and varied role, working across the areas described above. Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and should have completed or have equivalent competence as mapped to the Post Registration Foundation Pharmacist Framework available at: Post-Registration Foundation Programme for Pharmacists in Sc (scot.nhs.uk). Being qualified as an independent prescriber would be desirable although training opportunities are available for post graduate study.
