An experienced technical manager in the chemistry field is urgently required to lead a R&D team responsible for the lab program and technology platforms of its polymer products. As technical manager you make sure teams are performing with the relevant technical aspects in the technology and personal development of members.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the laboratory and ensure accomplishment of all business activities in the area of responsibility in line with relevant SHE-regulations to achieve SHE-compliance in accordance.
Set the direction and priorities on the ongoing technical program.
Accountable for the quality efficacy and delivery of experimental work as requested by leaders to defined timescales.
Development of new methods and techniques to build capability in the strategic requirement of the team
Responsible for the performance of the team.
Keep abreast of market developments and competitive products, through internal and external sources, relating to how products perform, can be applied or tested and assess how this can be used to add value to the business.
Define, initiate and lead projects in existing or new market segments, using a stage gate process, with the aim of developing new business in line with business strategy. Liaise with external contacts and internal operations/technical teams to ensure effective implementation.
Ensure effective communication of project outcomes to stakeholders.
Identifying and progressing opportunities to expand use of the companys products ranges and introduce new products in support of developing additional business.
Define and guide the practical technical service work programme to ensure work is progressed to meet customer or development timescales and objectives.
Support management and protection of IP.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
BSC, MSc, PhD Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or a related subject.
Management experience within an industrial R&D setting
Experience of market driven polymer product development, proven experience of understanding customer needs and a strong technical pedigree to advise on the companies present and future product
Strong customer focus experience
