Microbiology Analyst (Microbiologist)Location: South East, United Kingdom
An experienced Microbiologist (microbiology analyst) is urgently required to analyse samples within a well established laboratory, in accordance with the internal Quality System and requirements of UKAS. The position involves contributing to the first class microbiological analytical service to both internal users and a range of external clients.
Primary microbiology duties will include: preparation of samples, preparation of media, complying with turnaround times and sample data handling.
Analysis of cryptosporidium
Develop and continue to improve existing methods where possible.
Ensure analysis is performed in accordance with the Quality System and requirements of UKAS.
Ensure analysis is carried out within agreed analytical and/or contractual turnaround.
Ensure compliance with company health and safety requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Life Sciences background preferred (biology, microbiology, biological science)
Commercial experience within a lab laboratory (preferably working to UKAS)
Experience with any of:
Total Coliform Bacteria and Escherichia Coli
Total Viable Counts
Sample prep workload through the Microbiology section;
Microbiological analysis you have carried out
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Quality control of the analysis;
Work to standards like ISO17025 OR UKAS
Good communication skills plus numeracy and literacy skills required.
Computer literacy, particularly with LIMS, is also required.
Strong awareness of UKAS etc.
Dislike early mornings this is a 12pm 8pm shift!
