Our client is a FTSE 100 manufacturer working within the medical device industry, with multiple worldwide production facilities. The company culture is one that heavily utilizes the Continuous Improvement model and requires a new member of the Continuous Improvement Engineering Team. This is a senior role within their site in Deeside and will report into the CI Manager Joy.
Continuous Improvement Engineer
Based Deeside (Chester)

This role is shift based on Double Days Mornings and Afternoons (1 week 6am – 2pm and 1 week 2pm – 10pm)
Our client is a FTSE 100 manufacturer working within the medical device industry, with multiple worldwide production facilities. The company culture is one that heavily utilizes the Continuous Improvement model and requires a new member of the Continuous Improvement Engineering Team. This is a senior role within their site in Deeside and will report into the CI Manager Joy. The role is brand new and will be a major asset to the team during an exciting period of multi-million pound production process expansion investment. This will be a great time to join a company riding the crest of the wave at the moment, in late 2016 they became FTSE 100 and have been investing millions in both of their UK production sites in recent months leading to headcount increases on both sites and also new business units being added to both sites.
The plant is a fast paced production facility producing the medical devices. The company follow a Kaizen CI process improvement model so and you’re remit will be to champion this and may have worked up to be a Six Sigma Green Belt. In terms of industry experience ideally you will have come from a fast paced production environment, such as medical devices, pharmaceutical, FMCG or Food and Beverage industry.
The site contains around 550 employees and are currently in the process of adding a number of new production areas and processes in the coming months taking them from maybe 33 lines towards 40+ lines by the end of August all going well.
You’ll come with experience leading process improvements from a hands on basis, they want ‘dooers’ not people who sit back and manage people executing improvement projects. This role is based around batch production of materials that go into the production of medical devices. If you enjoy improving manufacturing/production processes, making them more efficient or saving budget, or improving quality this would be an ideal role for you. You’ll have multiple projects going on at one time, so communication with different department and organization is key. You’ll also get the chance to take real ownership of this role and progress within an expanding FTSE 100 company, which not many roles can offer. The company also offer a transparent opportunity to move onwards and upwards within the business, which is a big sell of the role.
If you have strong experience on measurable/quantifiable process/manufacturing improvements, which have saved, time, money or increased productivity or efficiency please apply.
You’ll be expected to help lead the trial of new material, introduction new products and manufacturing lines and equipment. Last year the company introduced production of 22 new products to the Uk so new processes and products are needed all the time. You’ll be used to looking into plant performance and how you can maximize the output and provide associated cost savings within a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Aside from your specific project, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the overall company processes, to help reduce process variability, and help key overall business projects and ensure compliance and regulations are being kept company wide. Part of the position will also involve working with both internal and external vendors, H&S, suppliers and legal and regulatory bodies.
First of all you will have a desire to work for a FTSE 100 company and add value. You will have experience leading process improvements hands on in a pharmaceutical, medical devices FMCG or Food industry. You’ll be fully versed in Continuous Improvement and may be Six Sigma trained and ready to apply these principles to this environment.

Degree or equivalent vocational qualification within a engineering or related discipline
Experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies, such as changeover reduction, 5S and visual management
Lean or 6 sigma Green Belt trained or equivalent would be an advantage
This role is paying:
Up to 7% bonus
Holiday 25 days + 8 stats (opportunity to increase holiday with years served)
