We believe when money moves, better things happen.Better starts and ends with the customerIn this varied and challenging role, we expect you to provide legal advice, and support to more senior lawyers, as part of our in-house Employment Law team. You will be working on a range of contentious, non-contentious and advisory matters and will be providing legal advice to a variety of stakeholders across the organisation, such as senior lawyers, HR, compensation & benefits, the Ethics Office, and business leaders. Providing training and updates to HR, researching and analyzing the law on complex issues, coordinating advice from outside counsel, developing standard form documents and negotiating contracts are all part of your responsibilities. You will be expected to have experience advising on matters including grievance and disciplinary investigations and hearings, conduct and performance management, terminations, senior exits, redundancies, collective consultation, settlement agreements, Tribunal proceedings, contracts of employment, fixed term and part-time arrangements, engagement of independent contractors and IR35, working time, privacy matters including handling DSARs, and employment aspects of TUPE transfers, outsourcings and M&As.We expect you to bring a law degree and previous experience in an employment law focused role. Whether your experience has been gained in-house or as part of an established law firm, we would need you to operate at a level where you are able to work independently and with minimal supervision. You will be expected to demonstrate consistent good judgment, with strong attention to detail, superior written, communication and issue spotting skills, and to be approachable and responsive. Western Union is a fast-paced environment where someone with a previous UK focus could expand their knowledge across the EMEA region. Whilst not absolutely necessary, financial services industry and Senior Managers and Certification Regime experience would certainly be an advantage, as would experience working on variable compensation and commission plans.
