We have exciting opportunities across Hertfordshire including in Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage, St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, Cheshunt and Bishop Stortford for inspirational and highly supportive special education needs teaching assistants, learning support mentors and 1:1 outreach workers to work across all year groups.
You will be joining popular, flourishing and highly-supportive special schools, alternative provisions linked to main stream settings and pupil referral units for a January 2019 start.
Taking on some classroom responsibilities within well-resourced and highly organised departments.
Assessing the individual needs of pupils and following their IEP's
Evaluating and reporting pupils' progress to teachers, carers and health care professionals
Managing challenging behaviour in a positive way
These roles will involve working with small groups or working with students on a 1:1 basis so you will need to have good communication skills and be able to build strong relationships.
The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following:
* Autism Spectrum Condition – ASC
* Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – ADHD
* Severe Learning Difficulties – SLD
* Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties – PMLD
* Social, Emotional and Mental Health – SEMH
Experience of de-escalation techniques, Picture Exchange Communication (PECS) and Makaton would be a distinct advantage but not necessary.
