The company is the largest manufacturer of industrial trucks in Europe, the second-largest producer of forklifts globally and a leading provider of warehouse automation.To co-ordinate and ensure consistent approach across projects for electrical design, software design and commissioning activitiesTo take responsibility for controls budgets and time constraints on projectsTo hold controls design reviews for relevant projectsTo assist in developing and maintaining departmental procedures and standards, promoting a continuous improvement cultureTo interpret design input information to produce control system designsTo produce design and manufacturing programmesProduction of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design / safety specifications, operation and maintenance manualsDesign and production of electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD toolsProcurement of electrical equipment including control panels and field devicesLiaising with suppliers on technical mattersProcurement of electrical installation services and liaise with suppliers on technical mattersLiaise with electrical installation supervisors and subcontractorsProduction of completed PLC software for control of a material handling sub system, including safety compliant code for safety portionProduction of all associated documentation including, but not limited to Functional Design Specifications, test specifications and commissioning checklistsTo produce databases to facilitate production of a visualisation systemTo assist in factory testing of the visualisation system prior to sending to siteDesign, production and test of conveyor control softwareEmulation testing / virtual commissioning of completed PLC software prior to commencing on siteTo assist in development of standard blocks and solutionsTo produce required health and safety documentation including, but not limited to method statements and risk assessmentsTo commission controls systems on site and to provide support to system integration commissioning activitiesTo provide control system training for the end userTo maintain good relationships with all internal and external customers, through provision of a high quality serviceTo liaise with project sales and project engineers during the project sales phaseTo liaise with project managers, customer and sub-contractors during order execution phaseWhere necessary to develop bespoke and new standard solutions to suit specific projects and new marketsTo innovate wherever possible to improve our delivered product to the end customer (e.g. reduced price, reduced time-scale, improved functionality)To provide technical backup to the service team as required, including bug fixes, enhancements and modificationsTo maintain and improve upon personal skills related to the position, through experience and trainingTo comply with the company policy as defined within the Document Management SystemOther duties as required by the business Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related relevant disciplineSeveral years hands on experience working in a similar role, including controls design and commissioning within an automation based industry, ideally within the automated warehouse industryPrevious use of CAD tools, (AutoCAD, EPLAN)Advanced understanding of PLCs (Siemens or Allen Bradley)Advanced understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment, e.g. Profibus, Profinet, ASi, TCP/IPAdvanced understanding of other controls automation related equipment, e.g. Bar code scanners, HMIs, Variable frequency drivesWorking knowledge of relevant standards governing the controls automation industryTo be conversant with AutoCAD, E-plan, Word, Excel, Project, Outlook.
