Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Principal Geotechnical Consultant with demonstrable experience you will join a recently established geotechnical consultancy team in the UK that is growing quickly. As part of this team you will take ownership of the management and technical delivery of a range of geotechnical consultancy projects including foundations appraisal and design to EC7, retaining wall design, design of temporary works and excavation planning. Experience of flood defence assessment and design and ‘green infrastructure’ design is an advantage. Our client is particularly interested in individuals with experience of coastal infrastructure assessment and design. You will be familiar with a range of geotechnical software packages, familiarity with FE analysis is an advantage. You will be expected to take responsibility for managing a few geotechnical consultants and graduates and leading this team you will deliver from concept to completion a few small and medium scale geotechnical consultancy projects simultaneously. You will also assist with the delivery of larger more complex projects across Europe as part of a collaborative effort with other Fugro offices.
The geotechnical consultancy team works alongside our engineering geology & geohazards and our geo-environmental specialists and the ability to see the benefit of close collaboration across disciplines is essential to the role. To offer skills and experience to occasionally support those teams would be a distinct advantage.
You will be expected to communicate directly with clients, identify their ground related challenges and propose cost effective and beneficial solutions. You will lead the development of technical proposals and bids for small to medium size geotechnical projects and assist with bids for larger projects. You will be a proven work winner; able to identify opportunities within the industry. You will have a strong appreciation of the commercial elements of geotechnical consultancy projects.
You may be asked to lead the supervision of site investigations and to observe construction activities from time to time.
