Location of Role Stratford upon Avon Job Number CUSD01755 Closing Date 18-Jan-2019 About the Role Based at our Head Office in Stratford-Upon-Avon, you will be leading on NFU Mutuals highest value and most complex claims. NFU Mutual have been recognised as an industry leader in insurance claims handling and resolution, reflected by having won multiple awards from Insurance Post at the 2017 awards. This is a fantastic role that will give you the opportunity to shape NFU Mutuals high value claims strategy and to set direction for the future. Working in our Large Loss Teams Claims team, you will be form part of a team who are involved in identifying and leading improvements to customer service and the control of claims spend. You will represent the Claims function in strategic projects to ensure the implications of change are fully considered. You will handle a small number of NFU Mutuals largest and most complex claims and, equally importantly, you will identify areas for improvements and then lead and drive the required changes. Whilst it is not a people management role, you will need to demonstrate leadership and influencing skills both in relation to the teams, but also to other internal and external stakeholders. Key internal stakeholder groups include: Actuarial, Pricing and Underwriting, Reinsurance, and our Regional claims teams. Role Responsibilities You will demonstrate effective cost control and oversight of our largest injury and liability claims. You will personally handling a small sample of the most complex claims (e.g. catastrophic accidents that have caused tetraplegia, paraplegia, amputation). You will be accountable for setting policy, technical standards and quality improvement in Large Loss Teams (these teams handle >1,000 claims with total reserves significantly above 1bn). You will be responsible for setting performance improvement targets and driving technical decision making to facilitate the required results You will implement reserving policy and contributing to improvements. You will manage supplier performance ensuring its effectiveness. You will devise and deliver effective training and coaching to help to develop competence within the claims teams. About You Applicants should have: Extensive leadership experience at senior level with either an insurer or a Solicitors practice. Several years of proven experience and capability in dealing with all aspects of the most severe personal injury claims. A detailed and up to date knowledge of the law, in relation to liability and personal injury claims. Ideally, you will have the same depth of knowledge in relation to insurance. A market presence and reputation in serious personal injury claims and or claims management. A real drive to lead improvement, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and then making sure the improvement takes place. Strong influencing skills. Self-motivation, enthusiasm and initiative Very strong communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational and time management skills Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics The successful candidate will also hold either ACII or an equivalent legal qualification.
