Eden Scott is delighted to be working with Floors Castle, situated in the scenic Scottish Borders town of Kelso to recruit an Operations Manager.
Floors Castle is the largest inhabited Castle in Scotland and home to the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe. As well as a family home it is a major 5 star visitor attraction with outstanding gardens and one of the most romantic and iconic buildings in Scotland.
The Duke and Duchess are closely involved in the business and their personal interest and direction adds to the visitor appeal and creates a dynamic and unique heritage brand.
Floors Castle is operated with a sympathetic, commercial focus with continuing investment in new features to create a must-see destination both for visitors and local residents.
New developments in the renowned walled garden have been established and further exciting projects are planned centred on the gardens and adjoining woodland.
Food is a key part of the business with cafes and a deli with special menus and food to go produced in the Castle kitchen.

The role of Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of day-to-day operational management and delivery of all public-facing and back of house activity. This will include responsibility for the budget management, operational management, staff management and maximising of commercial revenue along with all aspects of front of house management from the perspective of the visitor.
To lead on the continuing development of the visitor-facing requirements of the Castle.
To provide leadership and to supervise the existing members of staff and engender a good, hard-working team spirit.
To ensure the smooth running of the day visitor enterprise and public and private events.
To implement and monitor the highest standards of presentation and customer service to maintain Floors Castle’s 5 star rating with Visit Scotland.
To seek to maximise visitor numbers.
To oversee all aspects of the Business including ticketing, kitchen, catering, reception, retail and guides.
To develop a programme of public events and activities to drive visitor numbers and revenue.
To forward plan all logistical details for the day visitor enterprise and events business.
Key skills and experience required
Applying candidates should have a CV that details:
Proven successful operational leadership of a high volume visitor attraction, estate, top end venue/hotel or similar.
Experience within the travel trade/tourism industry including leading a self-operated catering.
Proven successful experience in managing all aspects of Front of House.
Excellent, proven management and people skills, with evidence of clear leadership ability.
Excellent customer awareness with experience across a broad range of clientele.
Proven commercial aptitude and experience of identifying and developing business opportunities.
Excellent salary dependant on skills and experience is on offer plus various generous company benefits in order to secure the right candidate.
Benefits include generous employer pension contribution of 11.6% (employee 5.8%) 23 days holidays plus bank holidays and an annual bonus.
