Our client is a rapidly growing SME who are offering their Survey, design and Engineering capabilities to low, medium and high values civil engineering projects. More recently focused on bolstering their Rail capability within their innovative organisation, our client has asked for us to seek an experienced, detailed, thorough and committed Lead Surveyor to join them and lead in the successful delivery of varied surveys required on behalf of their clients and related projects. The appointed Lead Surveyor will be reporting to the client office in North London and required to travel to varied sites leading and ensuring credible engineering survey deliveries.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the in-house Senior Project Management team and varied client representatives, you the Lead Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely setting out and site survey for all project requirements ranging from earthworks, drainage, varied monitoring and gauging, tunnels, bridges, embankments, line of route, bases foundations and piling, even down to P-Way, to name a few.
As the Lead Surveyor, you will be comfortable in leading, mentoring and developing other engineers and juniors. You will be competent meeting, liaising, working collaboratively and managing the likes of client representatives, design engineers, and site delivery engineers.
Additionally, you will be accountable for assisting with the planning, scoping and programming of works, resolving technical issues would be an interest of yours, reading and interpreting drawings, production / review of method statements, RFI’s, and the upkeep of site diaries should all be of a second nature to you as the Lead Surveyor.
Ultimately the production of QA, As-Builts and Health and Safety reports is a given with this role as well as attending progress meetings and assisting in the production of progress reports.
It is envisaged that the successful Lead Surveyor will be a minimum of HND (or equivalent) qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with a proven track record of working on major UK civil engineering projects for a recognised UK main contractor.
You will be adept in the use of Total Stations and conducting Laser Sweeps and be able to set out complex structures with the minimum of supervision.
Also, you should be able to plan and programme works, read and interpret drawings, resolving technical issues and control and prioritising workload.
Also, you will have gained good experience in supervising directly and indirectly employed staff, checking Quality and ensuring that the laid down systems and processes are adhered to.
You should have the flexibility to travel and work across the UK on a mixture of schemes.
To have working within the UK Rail sector would be very advantageous for this role
