Junior Designer – Store Development
Who we are:
Operating at the heart of our business, Shared Services offer efficiencies to all of our Brands by providing centralised resources and competitive synergies for the Group. The Shared Services Teams work across all Brands and are responsible for a huge range of activities from delivering product to over 40 countries worldwide, to achieving award winning store designs and handling 100,000 Customer Care calls each year. Within Shared Services there are over 1,000 employees working across 16 distinctive departments including International, IT, Finance, HR, Logistics, PR, Property, Digital and Sourcing.
The Role:
Our Property team is responsible for more than 2,500 stores in the UK, and handles various aspects of the property process including rent negotiation and the acquisition of new store sites. Our Store Development team is responsible for designing and implementing new store concepts for all the brands in the UK and abroad. They also project manage store modernisations and implement the design and vision of new Arcadia stores. Most recently the Store Development team was responsible for designing our new Topshop Topman store in LA, and continue to support our growing UK and international expansion plans.
Reporting into a Design Team Manager and working with a number of brands to create sector defining fashion stores.
Day to Day:
Creating innovative and commercial retail schemes
Working independently and creating original design ideas
Managing and organising other design staff
Working with and presenting to CEO level with clients/brands
Illustrating concepts with an appropriate mix of hand drawn and computer visuals
Production of site and detail design intent drawings
Specification of finishes and details
Liaison with fixture suppliers on production of prototypes
Provision of Risk Assessments as required and write design access statements
Managing updates to Brand Fixture Manual
Design of new stores and remodels, including co-ordination of shell design information
Design & sign off of lighting plans, signage packages, shop front construction, glazing details and shop fit details
Contractor briefing on design construction & detailing
Attendance of scope meetings, project site meetings & snagging
Provision of design details for site-specific conditions
Attendance of weekly Brand Layout Planning Meetings
Design fixtures, review prototypes and manage information to and from fixture vendor
Must Haves:
Degree level education from an established interior design or equivalent design course
Experience of working within the interior design industry
Able to demonstrate ability to create practical and original creative ideas
Some experience working with Vectorworks and Adobe CS. Ideally experience of Cinema 4D or other 3D visualisation packages
Have strong sketching/hand drawing skills
