IT Manager Sutton Coldfield
Our engineering client requires a new IT Manager to be responsible for 150 users, assist the FD and manage a small number of staff.
It is likely you have experience in a large family run business, particularly bias towards any sort of engineering. This client is extremely successful employing 300 staff, most of whom are remote users working from 20 branches throughout the UK or single engineers running Windows tablets.
You will be responsible for managing a single developer, a help desk operator and an infrastructure analyst. It is likely you will be able to lend a hand to almost any part of the problem areas apart from developing, which happens to be VB6/.NET. Because of the specialist nature of the business, any experience of managing either developers or perhaps some sort of application support will certainly score points for you.
The post comes with a full expensed BMW car including all fuel. You will work from the HQ in Sutton Coldfield and periodically travel to each of the 13 branches.
You will report directly to the FD and your ability to share solutions, problems, ideas and concerns in an open, frank manor will be key. New ideas and solutions will normally require a formal document and small presentation to the board.
The full technical environment is shown below:
Windows servers
Exchange servers
SQL servers
WatchGuard firewalls/VPNs
A large Sage environment
A custom CRM solution (written and supported by a third party)
VOIP
Citrix Xenapp
Virtual servers
There is an onsite server room and although you may not have every component shown above, it will be clear that your career has either developed through the infrastructure and application support world or a development environment. You will though be comfortable liaising on a day-to-day basis with field engineers, staff and directors.
In conclusion, this role will suit someone with around 10+ years experience in the IT industry who can demonstrate the ability to manage, train and coach small number of dedicated technical staff.
