Working for an international business and reporting to the global IT Director Edinburgh, you will be responsible for managing the local site covering UK and Poland.
In detail, your day-to-day activities will involve conference calls with global partners, liaising with the business, fault-finding issues, detailing business requirements via templated functional specification sheets. Liaise with HQ for change control. Manage deadlines, changes etc.
Local site has 100+ users and engineers using a complex system for booking in jobs, parts, equipment, goods in / goods out.
Bottom line is lots of hands-on IT Management, meetings, phone calls and conference calls. Lots of managing processes and procedures and not letting yourself getting roller-coastered by strong characters. Just follow the rules and you wont go wrong!
Top brass are down-to-earth characters, willing to listen and train you in business analysis, functional specs, change control etc.
It is likely your CV will show at least 8 to 10 years in IT, coming up via either a development / analysis background or via infrastructure. Client doesnt want job-hoppers and there is scope for developing your career here. Last two IT Managers are now senior solutions / infrastructure architects. Stick with the program and youll be fine.
