The Centre for Commercial Law Studies is the UKs leading centre for postgraduate teaching and research in the field of commercial law. The Centre was created in 1980 as part of the School of Law and has developed an in-depth expertise in specific areas of commercial law. Having commenced with banking and finance and intellectual property law, CCLS expanded to cover arbitration, information technology, new technologies, media, international economic law, international institutions, tax, development, and corporate governance.
The post-holder will have a key operational role in the Centre, responsible for an efficient and pro-active financial management remit in large and complex financial environment. The Finance Officer will plan and manage the financial activity of the CCLS, maintaining and reporting on actual expenditure against set budgets, preparing financial analyses and reports for CCLS management, and supporting management to set annual budgets in line with CCLS priorities. They will liaise with colleagues in Department of Law and other academic units as appropriate, as well as central Finance and other central professional service Departments as needed. They will also support ways of working that promote efficiency and effective financial management.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of financial management and budgeting, including the monitoring of multiple budgets over the full financial cycle, and a thorough understanding of financial management procedures and protocols relevant to a large and complex business area. They will have experience of generating and analysing complex data, producing reports and communicating effectively with specialist finance and non-finance audiences. A professional accounting qualification and experience using Agresso are desirable.
This is a full time, permanent post. The starting salary will be in the range of 33,615 to 39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
