PermanentJob Purpose
Ensure that the overall production, health, safety, quality & environment requirements for the Engineering Department are effectively managed and implemented in accordance with the company ISO9001/14001/OHSAS18001/BS1090/NHSS20/NHSS19a Integrated Management System.
This includes ensuring that all internal and outsourced activities for the planning, CE marking, executing, supervising, testing and inspection of the tasks and responsibilities associated with welding, fabrication, painting and bolting requirements have been implemented to meet contractual specification.
Ensure that all aspects of the Quality Assurance and Traceability processes are managed, and implemented in accordance with BS1090 Execution Class 3.
Main Duties
*Ensuring that the workshop and sub-contracted activities for the purchase, planning, CE Marking, quality assurance, fabrication execution, supervising, testing, inspection, tasks and responsibilities associated with welding, fabrication, bolting, and painting have been carried out to specification.
*Ensure internal and sub-contracted production Quality Assurance meets technical compliance and contractual delivery programmed schedule.
*Ensure welding, painting, bolting and inspection staff competencies meet BS1090/NHSS20/NHSS19a/BCSA requirements, and allocate appropriate staff to inspection tasks.
*Ensure fabrication drawings are quality assurance checked and CEM approved for construction prior to implementation.
*Ensure welding procedure qualification records, and welding procedure specifications meet design specification for parent material/weld type and are RWC approved prior to implementation.
*Ensuring that appropriate support is provided to the company Responsible Welding Co-ordinators (Exe 3 and Exe2) in accordance with the relevant BS EN ISO Standards, together with ensuring that Bolting Co- ordinaton is undertaken in accordance with NHSS20, and outsourced painting is carried out in accordance with NHSS 19A.
*Assist with the production of, and co-ordinate to ensure that all fabrication drawings/site templates are CEM Approved for Construction prior to implementation.
*Ensure quality assurance final checks (internal and outsourced), and other processes are carried out prior to arranging delivery of steel to site.
*Procurement of fabrication steel, bolts and welding consumables and materials to traceable standards, and that controlled stores are implemented for goods receipting
*Ensure the effective planning, control and arrangement of Planned hours in accordance with the company Fatigue & Working Hours Management Policy.
*Implement added value Lean Engineering practices within the fabrication workshop.
Essential
*Degree or HND/HNC/City and Guilds in Fabrication & Welding
*Strong understanding of production and assembly processes within a fabrication environment
*Strong leadership and excellent communication skills to motivate and manage change
*Experience in managing BS 1090 and BS3834 (CE Weld)
*Experience of Lean Engineering Principles
Desirable
*Previous Fabrications Management experience
*First Aid Qualified
*Fire Warden
*CSWIP
*BCSA Level 3 Bolting Co-ordinator
*Previous and relevant experience as a Production Manager within fabrication
*Ideally experienced in working with heavy steel
