Job Title: Parcel Sorter
Shift Pattern: 2am- 7.30am on SUNDAY NIGHTS ONLY
However there may on occasions be opportunities to work some shifts in the week too.
Job Type: Temporary, ongoing work
Pay rate: 8.50 per hour, pay rise after 13 weeks to around £11 an hour and again after 26 weeks.
You will be required to attend a one time appointment in Southampton to complete essential paper work
Our client, a parcel delivery company are looking to recruit Parcel Sorters for ongoing contracts. Ideally you will have done this role before, but as a minimum applications will only be accepted from those who have a minimum of 6 months warehouse experience.
We are expecting this position to start in the 3 weeks time and to continue until the end of the year right through to the end of the very busy Christmas period. The best workers will be retained for work in 2018, More hours will be available from September onwards
This is initially agency work , however as we get closer to Christmas, there will be work available every day.
Job role & responsibilities
Â•Sorting items by hand into compartments on a sorting frame,
Â•Overseeing the automatic sorting process, ensuring that the machinery is in full working order,
Â•Bagging and labelling mail for its destination
Â•Moving mail around the office between conveyor belts, loading docks and trolleys,
Â•Moving mailbags from cages, sorting mailbags and bundles of mail into cages,
Â•Loading and unloading wheeled containers from vehicles to the dispatch areas.
Loading vehicles/ vans ready for deliveries
Â•Be able to lift and carry mailbags and boxes weighing up to 20kg and to push containers weighing up to 250kg
Â•Be able to stand for long periods of time.
Â•Have a good grasp of the English Language both written and spoken
Â•Have previous experience in a similar position
Â•Be IT literate and confident in using scanners/ computers
