Renishaw’s Encoder Products Division (EPD) designs and supplies cutting-edge position feedback technology to the world’s precision measurement, automation, and manufacturing industries. EPD is made up of engineers, scientists and technicians all working together to produce market leading products for sale around the world. We start with cutting edge optical, algorithm and circuit design, developing our own ASICs and sensors where required; we then use innovative mechanical engineering to turn our core technology into a range of desirable products for our broad customer base. One of the key challenges for EPD is matching the precision requirements of our build processes to the need to build repeatable quality products by the hundreds of thousands. To do this we work closely with the Manufacturing Services Division (MSD) to develop manufacturing and assembly processes and software that perform reliably and repeatedly to accuracies of a few microns. A position has now become available for an experienced draftsperson to join the Encoder Products Division. Working as part of a busy team of designers, engineers, technicians and operators, the successful applicant will be required to produce 3D CAD models, assembly drawings and 2D manufacturing drawings for process equipment and production parts. Responsibilities:Produce 3D CAD solid models for process equipment and production partsProduce assembly drawings, parts lists and 2D manufacture drawingsLiaise with designers and technicians to ensure that drawings represent the design intentDesign mechanical tooling assembliesKey Requirements:Knowledge of 3D modelling system (ideally NX)Knowledge of PLM systems (ideally Teamcenter)Knowledge of 2D drawing standards.Awareness of 2D drawing systems such as AutoCAD.Experience of generating drawings to BS8888 for the manufacture of production parts Experience of geometric tolerancingDesirable Requirements: Working knowledge of any of the following software packages: NX, AutoCAD, Word and TeamcenterAwareness of manufacturing techniques, such as DFM and DFAFamiliarity with assembly drawings and parts listsManual and CNC machining knowledgeThe ability to assemble prototypesPerson Specification: Ability to self-manage and to solve problems using initiative.Self-motivated to produce work to a high standard in terms of drawing quality and completeness.Focussed on task and able to tolerate uncertainty and partial data.Happy working with a team of technicians and designers.
