The Chief Information Officer is responsible for developing the overall strategic vision in line with the global strategy and in collaboration with the business leaders within the EMEA region. The successful candidate will have worked in a global organization and will be comfortable working within a matrixed management structure. As a thought leader and business partner, the incumbent will understand how to shape, influence and implement IT strategy and innovative solutions within a professional services model. Candidates will have a strong focus on delivering operational excellence and a passion for leading technology enabled change.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Business Relationship Management
Accountable for the reputation of IT within the EMEA region.
Develop strong relationships with executive stakeholders to understand their business objectives and challenges and to identify where technology can enhance and improve their business for competitive advantage.
At board level, actively promote the opportunities that IT presents to the business, developing business proposals that include the feasibility of change and its likely impact upon the business.
Keep executive management up-to-date on technology trends and developments.
Represent the firm externally on all matters relating to IT, establishing confidence and respect both personally and for the organization.
Represent EMEA within the global IT leadership group.
Actively participate as the IT representative on the EMEA Business Services Leadership Team
Maintain accountability for quality and a secure and cost-effective IT service delivery, including the implementation of IT policy.
Responsible and accountable for all IT functions within the region, including IT budgets and the overall financial viability of the IT function.
Transformation/Change Delivery
Sponsor global IT projects as assigned.
Develop the Regional project portfolio and participate in global portfolio analysis and prioritization (in collaboration with the Global Head of PMO).
Maintain accountability for the successful implementation of all technology enabled projects including the realization of business benefits and the management of business change.
Execute Regional projects to time, quality and cost metrics.
Strategy and Innovation
Understand the objectives of the business and ensure alignment with the global IT strategy and standards .
With the CTO, direct investigation of specific IT technologies, products, methods and techniques to assess their potential benefit to the organization
Harness the full business benefits of relevant emerging technologies
Develop and manage the people strategy within IT for the regions including recruitment, career development and retention of people in conjunction with HR and the wider global IT strategy.
Provide certainty and direction to the regional IT Management teams during periods of change and growth.
Qualifications and experience required:
Bachelors Degree required.
Minimum 10 years experience in managing large internationally distributed IT teams.
Excellent understanding of technology within a professional services environment, ideally the legal sector.
Experience working in a global matrixed organization.
Able to demonstrate the delivery of high quality and stable operational services, particularly during times of significant transformation.
Experience in effectively engaging with the business resulting in the development and implementation of a holistic IT strategy.
Experience with board-level communications and an understanding of business operations.
Knowledge of IT governance, operations, and quality best practices.
Experienced in conceiving, selling and delivering technology investments including the associated financial modeling.
Demonstrable ability in leveraging technology to streamline business processes or deliver client services digitally.
Implemented and/or supported a mobile and flexible working strategy for a geographically diverse business.
Project and program management planning and organizational skills with globally dispersed teams and stakeholders.
Proven people management skills with ability to build teams, effectively manage staff and coach and develop people, both under direct line management and as part of a management team
Strong business planning, analytical, and conceptual skills
Creates realistic and measurable business cases and opportunities to grow revenue, reduce cost, and improve productivity
A strategic thinker, with a strong focus on service delivery and the customer experience.
