Job Title: Catering Assistant

Location: Hamilton Lodge School – Kemptown, Brighton – BN2 0LS

Salary: £8.35 per hour

Working Hours: 28 hrs per week – Monday – Thursday – 11.45am – 7.15pm

Duration: 38 weeks plus 4 weeks holiday and 1.6 for bank holidays so total paid weeks are 43.6 weeks

Start Date: ASAP

Situated in the heart of Brighton, a stone’s throw from the beach, Hamilton Lodge school has educated and cared for deaf children for over 70 years. Recently, we have developed a Further Education provision with local partnership colleges ensuring that our deaf young people have the best access to courses appropriate to their needs. We are now looking for a Catering Assistant to join our team.

Catering Assistant Job Purpose:

·To assist in the serving, cleaning and other general duties within the kitchen and front of house area in line with the company’s and client’s standards whilst maintaining the cleanliness and

Catering Assistant main responsibilities Include:

·To ensure all work areas and surfaces are clean and tidy as is practical at all times, especially at the end of the day/shift

·To serve customers in a quick, polite manner ensuring good customer service at all times

·Replenish food and equipment to ensure an efficient and seamless service

·Clear and clean specified work areas after the service periods

·To ensure the kitchen is maintained in a clean, organised manner and all food safety and health and safety policies and procedures are followed

·To complete all cleaning schedules to the agreed standard

·To promote a friendly working relationship with colleagues

·To undertake training and comply with all company policies and procedures

·To raise any issues to the Chef Manager in a timely manner

·To report any incidents of accident, near miss, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food or any other irregularities

·To support at school events, as required

·To assist with the setup, service, clearing and cleaning of function catering as and when required

·To carry out any reasonable request by management

·Completes tasks within contracted hours to the agreed and specified level

·Continuously seeks to improve standards and deliver a great service for the staff and students

·Works without line manager having to remind them of their duties

·Contributes towards green Safegard audit

The ideal Catering Assistant will:

We are looking for a general catering assistant who is passionate about serving great quality food in a specialist school environment. The successful person must be able to work well in a small team and work towards building a good relationship with the students and staff at Hamilton Lodge in Kemptown, Brighton

We provide a lunch service for up to 100 students and supper provision for up to 50 students and staff; you will be responsible for serving lunches and the evening meal, using the dishwasher, along with various cleaning duties front of house and in the kitchen
