Job Description
As one of the UKs largest Co-operative societies our colleagues are the key to our success, which is why we want the very best people as part of our team.
Central England Co-operative is one of the largest and most successful independent co-operatives in the UK, with gross sales in excess of 1bn and over 8,800 colleagues operating across 16 counties, from the heart of England to its eastern shores. Our colleagues are the key to our success, which is why we want the very best people as part of our team.
We currently have an exciting CAD Technician vacancy in our Trading Development Projects Team, based at our Business Support Centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
As a CAD Technician you will support effective delivery of the Society’s trading property development project programmes through timely and accurate production of architectural drawing packages for a range of property new build, conversion and refurbishment projects. Your core duties will include undertaking measured surveys and site audits, and preparing sketch designs, feasibility layouts, working drawings, room data sheets, and macro retail merchandising layout proposals.
You will also be tasked with providing central administration assistance to the Commercial and Development Manager and field-based Project Managers; this will include maintaining central drawings files and regularly updating a library of standard details & specification documentation, plus managing the department’s property data sources and online project information collaboration site.
You will be required to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues across the Society; quickly developing a broad understanding of retail operator and other project stakeholder needs and ensuring effective and regular progress communication to all key parties.
You will be a personable, organised and highly self-motivated CAD / architectural technician with well-developed workload prioritisation abilities and excellent communication skills, able to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision.
You will be able to demonstrate strong, up-to-date AutoCAD 2D skills. These will preferably be supported by formal City and Guilds or equivalent level qualifications, although applicants without formal qualifications but able to demonstrate a suitable level of skill gained through work experience will also be considered.
Additional 3D Auto CAD skills and previous exposure to Revit/BIM would be an advantage, as would proven aptitude in other design related software packages such as Photoshop, Sketch-Up, MS Publisher etc. Previous exposure to working with online collaboration tools and project databases is also desirable.
A good general level of educational attainment with well-developed IT skills is also a pre-requisite; with at least intermediate level skills in core Microsoft Office applications. (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
A full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across all Central England Co-operative regions and undertake unsocial hours working as and when workload dictates will also be essential.
Finally you will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the role of a CAD technician in supporting property development programmes, and ideally offer previous relevant career experience in one or more of the following areas: 3D/retail design, architectural design, building design, building surveying, and/or property development. Applicants from either client-side or consultancy backgrounds are equally welcome.
As a Central England Co-operative colleague you will enjoy a wide range of benefits, including Society Membership, colleague discount on purchases, pension and health scheme.
At Central England Co-operative Society we are all individual, like you. We value your individuality and welcome applications from all members of society regardless of personal characteristics.
